First shop since the light went on!

ok - have paid all the bills ( as said in my last post) gave hubbie my card and am on a strict budget. I will be stopping smoking on Monday 10th September so will have a huge amount to put towards my debt.

I wanted a bit of advice about how much people spend on their weekly shop. I usually spend £80 and there are 4 of us me and hubbie and 2 kids (19 and 17). Do you think this is a lot? Not really thought about it until I joined this site. I already buy the buy one get one free or 50% extra on cleaning stuff and toiletries when they are on offer.

Any advice or info would be really welcome.

Hiya! It's not a HUGE shopping bill for 4 people (I've seen MUCH worse on here...lol), but it could probably be cut down a bit. We spend about £60 per week and there's 4 of us. Admittedly one of them doesn't eat (3 months old!), but nappies compensate for that!

The old style board has some great ideas for meals on a budget. And Stardrops is great for most cleaning jobs!

I've been here ages, and I've still not found a shop that sells Stardrops :o
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

  • You can buy stardrops at Morrisons and Wilkinsons and Asda, spud30.

I think you could cut your bill down a bit thelightisnowon. I spend about £70 per week for me, OH, 14 year old, 12 year old and 9 year old. I used to spend £120 per week before my lightbulb moment!!! It is an easy way to save money. If you put your latest receipt up on the old style forum they will go through it for you and suggest cheaper alternatives.

As suggested, have a look at the old style board. There are very good and realistic tips over there. Try Meal planning . A stock take of your store cupboard and freezer might help.

    Good luck
