Cycle Scheme advice?

Options
Hi all,

Wondering if anyone has an experience of leaving employment during cycle scheme agreement?

I work for the civil service and have transferred departments, naively thinking that my ctw deduction would remain the same, however I've just checked their faqs and this doesn't seem to be the case! Now I'm concerned that they're going to try and take the remaining balance (£751) from my pay this month - I say attempt as I was only with the previous department for 1 week so there won't actually be enough funds?

They haven't contacted me (although I no longer have access to my emails) so I genuinely never though about it till a colleague mentioned it yesterday and it's got me worried! I'm going to ring my previous HR on Monday but just hoping for some advice before then?

Thanks 😊

Not sure about the Civil service but surely your still employed by the same employer just a different department so the scheme will just continue as before.
  • I'm hoping so but I have a different HR/pay number etc and I believe the scheme can't be transferred to another employer. Oh well I'm sure they'll contact me when they need to!

It's in the cyclescheme FAQ that if you leave your job (or are made redundant) then you have to pay the (remaining) balance without the tax free element (any payments you have already made are "safe", you do not have to pay the full balance) but I would have thought it you were simply moving departments in the same job that wouldn't apply as your employer is still the same. I'd suggest speaking to HR or whoever does your scheme admin to check this however.

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
