I had a bad few years with an ex who ruined my credit rating by getting catalogue accounts and credit cards in my name. When I found out I contested them and refused to pay but doing that has ruined my credit rating. I started trying to pay them a couple of years ago but but have recently struggled with the monthly payments. Ive tried various thing to pay them all off and then have one monthly payment but always get refused, presumably because of all the different loans and defaults. I just want to get my finances back on track but it's impossible! Any advice?

Yeah, you really need to get the police involved. Simply not paying won't remove your responsibility to do so.0

Hi,
You can't be made to pay a debt that was taken out fraudulently without your knowledge.
This is what you should do :
(1) collate all account numbers/details for the accounts they are chasing you for.
(2) report the matter to the police, get a crime number.
(3) write a complaint/dispute letter to each creditor chasing you, telling them to treat the matter as identity theft/fraud, and explaining concisely the situation, quote the crime number.
Once you have done this, it's up to the creditors how they deal with it, but should court action be taken in the future, you would have some form of defence to produce.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards.
