I just taxed my car for a year at the beginning of Feb and am now getting a new car before the end of the month, is it possible to get a refund on the old car, I will be trading it in . I know the taxing of cars has changed but I'm not sure how it works

Yep just let them know online and the refund will be issued. You need to be able to say the old car is sold though. My dad did this lately and the cheque arrived 10 days later0

When you notify the DVLA of change of keeper then you will get a refund of any full months left. If you notify them on the 1st of the month you lose that month also.
I dropped my car to the dealer on the last day of the month then SORN'd it and collected the new car the next day.
I didnt risk losing another month then.
If your picking it up mid month or even a few days in then you wont get a refund for that month and will need to tax the new car from the 1st of that month.
People moan about it but generally its not that much anyway, £20 ish? Although not MSE, its not the end of the world.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
