Should I Stay Or Should I Go

Options
Hi all
Just a quick question....
OH is happily pregnant with FLC #2, however she is the main earner and will be on statutory maternity pay by the time our current mortgage deal ends.

My dilemma:
Pay £3200 termination fee to come out of current deal and start again
or
Stay on current deal and try and remortgage. Or stay on standard rate?

We had great problems remortgaging before, as my wife was pregnant again. Our payslips will show she is earnibg £1000 a month less; but our savings will more than cover the deficit.

FLC
Mortgage: 01/02/14 - £108k
Mortgage: Current - £97k
Mission: MF by 50

  • I remortgaged whilst on mat leave and my work provided me with a letter stating that I had a job to go back to and my returning salary.

Would that not help? Perhaps it depends on provider....

Hello and congrats FLC! Ready to start it all again then I see!

Might be worth waiting and chancing a new mortgage. Or chancing the SVR won't be too high when your fix ends.

    Good luck either way
