Facebook competition winner not announced

Just a little moan/vent...
I entered a competition on Saturday on the Facebook page of a local pizza delivery and restaurant chain for a free pizza and 4-pack of beers. Only one other person had entered before me and no one else entered after. They didn't state when the competition ended or announce the winner, so I'd been hopeful that I might win.
On Tuesday the company 'liked' mine and the other person's comments, but that was it.
Anyway I just got a notification tonight (Thursday) and the person who entered before me had commented on the competition post with a picture of his free pizza and drink saying thanks to them for his prize.
Obviously I'm disappointed that I didn't win, but fair enough he was first and there were only two entries. Would have been nice if the company had posted the winner though, rather than me waiting getting my hopes up!
Oh well, will keep comping and hope I have better luck another time...

Sorry, I didn't think of posting it at the time.
I've read threads on here before where there's been a bit of tension over people posting comps that other people felt were theirs to post, so I've never posted any just in case of anything like that happening. If I ever notice any like that in the future I will check and post them.0 -
no-one has "ownership" over particular competitions0

Well from what I remember of that thread (think it was deleted/removed) some users did feel that way as they were the person who would post particular sites comps and didn't like it when someone else posted them first. I remember someone being 'named and shamed' for it and it turned into a bit of a heated debate.0 -
Woah, it sounds like a bit too localised to have been beneficial to the majority of users on here. It could have been posted but I think weve all done that on facebook, entered something on the off and not had it register in our brains to post it on here. Esp when people can be put off posting when they can get negative responses
.
Still,it must be annoying when you think youve got a good chance of winning and it doesnt happen. Chalk it up to experience and keep on entering!0 -

Ah I know what you mean, I often think about entering competitions for meals, hotel stays etc until I Google how far it is from here and realise they're 4+ hours away and wouldn't be worth it!
Thank you!It certainly wasn't a calculated move not to post it here to stop people entering or anything like that, I thought more people would have entered after I did.
Yes, although I guess the other person who entered would feel the same way if I'd won instead! Thank you for your lovely reply! :A0 -

Hmm - bit forthright for a new user?
As previously said, FB comps tend to be fast moving and you enter without really thinking. Plus many are local - people are often caught out by entering for something they are not eligible for or the providers don't expect to be flooded with entries from all round the country and don't really want to provide the prize, causing more bad feeling.
But more than all this - no one on here is obliged to do anything. If you look at the number of views as opposed to the number of thanks, I would guess plenty of people make use of the information on here while never participating at all. And that is their choice. We should be vastly grateful to those who choose to 'give something back' but that should not be used as a stick to beat someone with."If ever there is a tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you. "

Facebook competition winner not announced
Unless the competition T&C's said they would announce the winner on FB there is no need for them to do so. It is sufficient to say how you can obtain winners details - making people write in and enclose a stamped addressed envelope is good enough.0 -
