Damaged phone due to Speaker - need advice

Options
Hi,

I bought a plug in Speaker from Poundland for the phone.

After plugging it into the headphone socket of the phone the sound quality was terrible. I removed the speaker and discovered that the speaker jack (the bit the plugs into the headphone socket) had broken off inside the Phone!

I can't get the broken piece out and after some internet searching it looks as if there's no way to get it out without some superglue and a toothpick (which I've tried and failed)!

Also as the Phone thinks there's a set of headphones in the socket it has turned off the sound, so no ringer, no talking on the phone, no music, no sound at all!
(I managed to bypass this by downloading an app (Soundabout) which means I can change the output to whatever i like but need to keep changing it from speaker, to earpiece to bluetooth which is annoying)

The item was brand NEW and came straight from the box but has cause permanent damage to the phone

Now I'm wondering what or if there's a legal or consumer road i can take to get compensated for the damaged phone?

Doubt it unless you can prove there was something wrong with it or that you didn't bend it when inserting or removing it. If you've tried yourself with tweezers, pliers and stuff, or maybe drilling a tiny hole and putting a screw into it, I'd guess a jeweller might be able to help you?

Or a computer repair person, who will have specialist tools ?
