Anyone know where to buy home gym equipment?

I went to buy an elliptical trainer on the internet - unfortunately, inspite of them telling me the delivery was free, they wanted £70.

So do you know anywhere that dont charge such obscene amounts or somewhere in NI I could collect?!

except for the general public when it can mean whatever they want it to.

    Argos?

They have a surprising range of multitrainers etc
  • Vi Sports (I think that is the name) have a big sport shop on the Montgomery Road just past the police station there. They have a good range of home gym equipment.

Thanks guys. I had a look but both options seem to be significantly more expensive than the equivalents who are shipping from the mainland....

Then you might have to take the hit on the £70 postage. :-(

Not necessarily. I got a good treadmill off ebay and arranged the delivery myself with a company called parcelmonkey. They are basically front for DHL. It was just over £30. Took 2 days. There is a company on ebay also that is based in NI who allow self collection (assuming of course you are happy with ebay trading)

VI Sports off Castlereagh Road in Belfast ... I have got some stuff off them in the past. Failing that I notice our local JJB or lifestyle (or one of those sports shops) has some offers in the window.

I have a Proform elliptical trainer (from Vi Sports). Just a word of warning though. I am on my fourth one (all replaced under warranty). The problem is that the blades act like 'leaf springs' and seem to be prone to breaking. They last about 3-6 months (depending on usage) ... although I admit that I am possibly slightly more portly than other users.

  • I purchased a Trimline TM from http://www.powerhouse-fitness.co.uk in Dec 2004.

I got them to deliver to NI and then even dropped the surcharge they wanted to apply to NI. I think the extra was about £50 but after a bit of too and fro on the phone they dropped it.

Another poster on here saved over £100 based on this recommendation.

    ebay.

Anythiing big and expensive, ebay is the place. No end of almost new gym stuff on there. And local pickup limits audience and potential bidders.

I've picked up a good quality like new Exercise bike, rowing machine and strider thing on there for £10-30 each.
