Hi new to this and I'm after some loan advise on what I should do in regards to getting my garden landscaped. Are house is worth approx 230000 and we owe 125000 on mortgage with 20 years to go. I'm thinking of adding 20000 to mortgage to clear some cards (2k) and the rest on home improvement mainly garden landscape which quotes have come in at between 12-15k. I already have a existing loan for a new car for 10k. Our current mortgage monthly is £525 and loan £150 and we earn in excess off £42k a year. Just not sure if the whole process is worth it and before I go speak to a mortgage adviser I was curious in a outsiders point of view... Thank you.

With credit card debt and a car loan already, I wouldn't take on further debt.
I'd buy a few pot plants and make do until my finances were a bit stronger.0 -
Lower your spending, pay off the credit cards and make an extra payment against the loan.0

15 grand on a garden when you already have debt? Wow.0

You can't afford a landscaped garden. Forget about it and pay off your other debts0

Buy a spade and fork it may take a few years to do it but they are a lot cheaper.:p0

£15k on the garden ain't likely to add £15k to the value of the house, it's just £15k closer to negative equity if house prices drop, or £15k nearer repossession if you can't pay the mortgage. Just a thought...0

That was kinda my thought. Although my garden is in bad state is flash new paving and flower beds going to increase my house price buy 15k? Probably not. I plan to stay where I am for the next 10 years providing no change in circumstances but maybe holding out until I'm in a better financial position won't hurt. I'll wear wellies to hang the washing out.0

Getting a gardener in for a few hours every few weeks may make a huge difference and they will be able to offer advice on what you can do yourself.
£15k to do up a garden is huge."We act as though comfort and luxury are the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us happy is something to be enthusiastic about” – Albert Einstein0
