I'm not being nosey. You have to know what the debt is so you can work on not doing it anymore. Whatever it is I'm guessing you're still doing it if you're taking out payday loans.
I know these things can be done. My husband in the last three years has rung up £7k. This is because we don't earn very much but he still likes to live like he's rent free at home. Plus he has a long commute, we went on holiday and car insurances he doesn't budget for. He doesn't budget for any big expenses.
£22k in 3 years you must know what it is. Then we can help you better. Especially with an SOA X
    Loan 1 £5200/£8000
    Loan 2 £300/£5800
    Total £5500/£13800

I struggle to live on what I live on as I also help my partner out from time to time with food, part rent etc. He has struggled for over a year to find any work due to his location and lack of public transport.

You CANNOT afford to do this! If he is debt free then he should be moving to where the work is, even if it means him getting some credit in the short term until he has a job/car/place to live that he can then repay quickly.

If you are in debt you cannot be gifting or loaning other people money - especially when you have outstanding debts to others in the family. It is hard to say no, but your partner needs to understand what the situation is. I'm sure he would rather you work at paying off the debts before you have to go through the unpleasantries of debt collectors and nasty letters and phone calls all the time, especially with the little one.

  • It might be worth phoning one of the debt charities for help and advice.
