Had a issue when doing a part time course in 2010, I left after 1st day as jobcentre refused to let me do it (they assumed I was doing unpaid work and not at university) and as such cancelled it in first week.
Problem that occured was I applied for a fee waiver, and this was not processed because by the time they got round to it I had left.
Cue debt collectors last year demanding money from me, what I am worried about is how they can reword me agreeing I owe money i.e I didn't dispute fees were charged but I told them I applied for a fee waiver but of course they "cant find" evidence of this.
The whole argument they have is contradictory, they say that if I left in the first week fees wouldn't of been charged (in fact within a few weeks) but if thats the case to me their claim they didn't process the fee waiver because I left doesn't stand it was at that point their argument changed to I never left at all and was officially enrolled therefore fees were correctly applied to account.
Either way the 5 years since I left course ended in September, so does that mean its barred? Also either way with that too could they claim fees were not put on account till a later point and thus get around that 5 years?
