old nursery debt

I am trying to sort my debts out and have taken the advice that it is fine to contact people in writing. If i ring i fall to pieces, cry and the stress and anxiety it brings on is awful. I am not trying to get out of paying.
When DD2 finished nursery i was in arrears and agreed to pay it off in manageable payments. Somewhere along the way [we are talking about three years] I have lost the final bill and have no idea of what i owe, if anything. I am still paying a weekly amount. As i was writing to everyone i owed money to I also wrote to them for a current balance. It is now over a month and i have heard nothing back.
If I stop payments till I hear from them does anyone foresee any problems? more so that i might be still paying for a debt that is settled?

I would certainly stop paying until they provide you with a statement of the account at least.
This debt will not show on your credit file, and it's EXTREAMLY unlikely any court action will be forthcoming.
See what they get back to you with, if they don't bother contacting you, call it a day and move on.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Debt free wannabe, Credit file and ratings, and Bankruptcy and living with it boards. As above really, write to them again stating that until you hear from them with an unto date statement of the account you will cease payments.0
