Thoughts on our progress with our application

Options
The Halifax team initially verified our income which was good, then asked for a letter explaining our previous glitches, defaults and reason for a NOC and referred to underwriter. We did that, and our MA sent this to them, 24 hours later underwriters asked what hours my wife will be doing when she goes back to work from maternity and also if we would incur childcare costs, Our MA chased them up on Thursday and Friday, but it was still awaiting for someone to review again.

Anyone with experience with underwriting have any hinckling on how close we may be? They haven't instructed valuation yet, but we told them my wife is going back full time and there won't be any childcare costs because we have a retired grandparent and wife does shifts which works out well.

I would hope we would of had a reject by now if that was the case? But I haven't seen a hard search appear on my credit report yet either?

Apologies, I meant Inkling, as is in what is your suspicion?

I did, but it was a thread I tagged it onto.
  • It's weird they haven't instructed your valuation yet, they took the money for mine as soon as did my full application and arranged the survey a few days later, (they still haven't verified my salary as yet) as far as I know the underwriters haven't even seen any part of my application yet, but I went direct through Halifax and you've went via a broker? So maybe that's why our situations are reversed a little, I'm sure you'll get a good news phone call on Monday, as hard as it is (trust me I know) try to put it to the back of your mind and not fret about it...

Top bloke! Yep valuation fee taken, but not instructed, Been 48 hours since an underwriter has reviewed our application again, yep it's certainly frustrating, because we've been wanting to go back and see the house and buy a few things for it, but of course it's not ours until we get an offer. Don't want to jinks yours but the fact that all they want is a letter from your employer sounds like a great position to be in especially if they've done the valuation aswell. Generally I don't think they would want to waste the buyers money if they weren't happy thus far.
  • The valuation won't be performed until the underwriters agree the case. The fee is non-refundable once the valuation has been carried out, but right now they'd be able to give it you back if they decide they don't want your business.

Thanks, based on the questions they've asked, does it sound positive? Also when you say agree the case, does that mean provisionally approve?

    Regards

When I say agree the case, I mean exactly that..

The underwriters will either say yes or no.

Actually it's not yours until contracts are signed ;)

Fingers crossed you won't take long and everything will go smoothly. But you might not want to invest in things for the new house, just yet.

As for the credit search, you can try and check the other 2 credit agencies.

Actually at closer inspection on my experian report, it does look like a full search has taken place can someone confirm? Not sure why there is 3 m? Presumably the earlier date was the AIP?

1st February is when the valuation fee was taken out of our account

  • They did 3 checks in me as well, one on the 18th and 2 on 19th ... Read on here someone said its because one of them your checked as additional applicant ... No idea... My salary should hopefully be confirmed tomorrow lol can't believe the longest part of my process (hopefully) is waiting on something from my company (really big company as well so you'd expect better but hey ho) ... Anyway, any news from underwriters yet? #fingerscrossed
