I really enjoyed the programme. I loved the larder unit in the kitchen. I used to have one of those when I first left home and would like one again but OH hates them. I think kitchens then had far more character than they do now.
Although it was normal to me and my siblings, it seems my parents were unconventional. My dad helped a lot with housework and often used to cook.
I have got one of those larder units in my kitchen for basic store cupboard stuff.
It is much easier to find things in it than the standard kitchen units. I dont know what the proper name for them is, but since I was a child my family have always called them "the pulldown" because of the shelf, although mine actually slides out.0 -
I also have been watching this and I have also loved it.
I have a confession to makeWe had that exact Red kitchen complete with the larder unit in this house when we moved in and we skipped the lot of it
My mum also had that exact floor polisher and I always remember her polishing the Red tiles we had in the hallway with the Red 'cardinal' on the pad thingys. It came up so shiny that Me and my Brother took many banged heads over the years where we would slip over on it
Also I had forgotten 'Dial a Disc' :rotfl:Where you could phone up and listen to the track of the dayWhich I did love doing.
Brings back so many memories watching it.

I had a blue one in my tiny two roomed flat back in the early 1960s and I think it was called a 'Kitchenmaid' I know it cost me £10.19s.11d from our local hardware shop
It was great, as I could store everything in it and when I was feeding my eldest DD (now nearly 50) I would prop a book up on the drop down bit to read at the same time I did multi-tasking even then:)
