RTE via Freeview

I use to be able to receive RTE 1,2 and TnaG via Freeview on channels 51-53. Since installing my new TV (full HD) the stations have gone

A manual retune is in order but what Channel/Frequency do I manually tune into

As a matter of interest I do receive the Soarview overspill into my set but I would prefer to have RTE 1,2 and TnaG via Freeview as it might help stop little fingers switching all over the place. :D

Thanks

HL

It does, try an aerial booster, they can make a big difference. For £10 or £20 it's well worth trying, and a no brainier to fit.
  • But what channel/frequency do I manually scann in?

I can't answer your question directly, but have you tried auto-tuning again. If you have the HD set they should appear on 51-53 if your aerial is pointing to the Freeview transmitter not Saorview

    .
  • Does the TV you bought have Freeview HD or just Freeview? Although the TV may be capable of displaying HD the picture will not be HD from an aerial signal unless you have Freeview HD.
  • Further to my last post I am not sure if you will receive RTE if you only have Freeview. I think you need Freeview HD to obtain a RTE signal. I specifically bought a TV with Freeview HD in order to receive RTE as my other TV with Freeview cannot receive RTE.However many TVs currently sold just have Freeview rather than Freeview HD.
  • It took a bit of hunting, butI get RTE on both my Freeview TVs - RTE1 HD on the HD compatible one. On an automatic retune, all the RTE channels are on 800, RTE1 on 807, news on 805 (but RTE1HD is on 837)
  • I feel silly. Invited an aerial man up and he checked the TV I was on about, everything seemed in order. The TV was in my new living area.

"Where was the TV before you moved rooms," he asked . Showed him where it was. He bent down and plugged in the amplifier and guess what all the aRepublic's stations appeared :( He explained to me that the new aerial lead was joined to that one in the loft and that needed power sent up to it.

    Problem solved
