what I find amusing about self service belts is that people still put down the divider as if they'll start scanning someone else's shopping without realising.

I also get a kick out of people that walk up to an empty belt, transfer their shopping item by item to the belt and then proceed to scan/bag each item. Why not just unpack/scan/bag a la normal self service tills and save yourself double the effort?

I want a divider that says 'Warning - you could be a while' for people like me who take ages and inevitably need help from an SA.
