Rhosynbach that dress is gorgeous :T
I agree with the others, it'd be fab for a wedding and would look great with a pale silver bolero or cardigan

The dress looks lovely- first impression it would be great for an evening celebration:)
...but after looking and using imagination with a silvery coloured jacket of shrug/bolero thingy I think it would be super.
When I was mother of the bride my daughter insisted I complemented her bridesmaid colour,
I wore a cream linen dress with dusky pink applique flower on the front and side, my dress certainly didn't look mother of the bride, but bought it from 'very' 5 1/2 years ago, it was on offer and I had a voucher code so got it for around £30. I had low heeled dusky pink sling backs bought for £1 from a charity shop, which I changed into flat dressy sandals for the evening, mother of pearl with dusky pink trim handbag I borrowed, a pink linen jacket from M+S from their end of season summer sale:) and a hat which I wasn't going to have but it made the outfit, I bought it for 75% off from a little exclusive hat shop,:):money: as im short the hat, in the same style often seen being worn by the queen, higher one side than the other appeared to give me more height.
Therefore if your daughter doesn't mind colours then it will be perfect dressed up for the formal with a jacket and then jacket off in the evening to party:)0 -

That is a really lovely dress, Has your DD2 seen it or are you going to surprise her?0 -

What a lovely OH he is, to take a scissors to the petticoats!
If it feels right, it is right.
I got in such a tizz over what to wear to DD's wedding that a friend took me to her favourite dress shop - and once she got me in there, she said I wasn't leaving until I had purchased one.
As a strategy, it worked, and everyone liked the dress, and it looked well on the photos but I wasn't truly happy with it, it just didn't feel right.
Just been looking and a bolero jacket may be bit expensive not many around so may just be too early in the season, I think a nice cardigan would also look nice and smart for the ceremony.0 -

Or a pashmina wrap in an equally delicate fabric,

I think if you could match it with a nice plain bolero jacket it would be ok for a wedding rhosy. Then you can dispose of the jacket if there is an vening celebration too and it would be perfect.
Sorry I vanished , had to make pancakes, did not do it last year and the boys have not let me forget so thought I it was easier to do them than listen to another year of complaining.
Thank you to everyone for your comments and suggestions, I like the idea of a plain bolero and silver sounds good going to look and try a few, you have all convinced me i shall wear it to dd1 wedding, dd2 and my nephews weddings are more formal church ones so I can get different dresses for them . ordered a few the other night do fingers crossed.
Thanks everyone for your help you are all wonderful and have given me more confidence. Xxxxx0
