mould in cupboard

Wondering if anybody could help please,as i was cleaning a cupboard in our sittingroom i noticed it was covered in mould on the inside horrid was really shocked to discover this,have cleaned the cupboard with soda and hot water but what can i do to stop this happening again! any suggestions very welcome. have learned a lot from this site and am really grateful to everybody who has posted.many thanks in advance

    Didn't want to read & run but although I'm not sure if it would work what about something like the bags that absorb the water. I'm assuming if theres no moisture in the cupboard then it can't grow mould but I could be wrong. I know you can buy them I'm just not sure where from, would bicarb of soda work? Someone else is bound to know something that would work.

    thank you helenhugs i wondered myself about bi carb soda but am not sure think that absorbs odors ? the bags that absorb water sound like a good, idea thanks will have to find them now,maybe john lewis

    It may be lack of ventilation, a couple of holes drilled where they won't show should help. But if it's not a fitted cupboard, check the surrounding walls and floor underneath. You may have an external water source leaking in - usually a blocked drainpipe or soil too high outside.
