Belfast - Nice

I fly to Nice regularly.

Anyone know why, for the second winter running, Easyjet have cancelled the direct flight.

Every other route is still running in the winter.

I have flown lots of time in the winter months, and the plane has always been full or nearly, so it isn't a question of not enough passengers.

It doesn't make money in the winter. Winter loads were typically 100ish..not good enough for low cost ops. It has been dropped in favour of GVA as apparently that's a money maker. Next summer Aer lingus will also be flying to Nice. That should drive the price down (assuming Easyjet doesn't drop it permenantly)

Pleasure. I stay in a mobile home near Nice.

Why should they drop it completely? Have you ever been on a flight to Nice April - September. They are always full.

You can fly in the winter to the 4 new routes they have just started - Barcelona, Gdansk etc. They won't be any more full than a winter flight to Nice.

I hadn't heard Aer Lingus will be flying to Nice from Belfast. I fly with them from Dublin to Nice in the winter. It's only £60 return.

You have a fair point. There are too many seats available on many of these new routes. 3 airlines is overkill. In that respect you may be right as this winter a Nice flight would probably have generated the same revenue. That still wouldn't be enough to make it profitable though
Summer flights to Nice make money. They wouldn't make as much money though with competition on the route but hopefully they'll keep at it. Easyjet have dropped Rome for the winter (and probably for good). There were always more passengers on that flight than the Nice.
Aer lingus flights from BFS to Nice are already on their website for next year. Cheapest I've found is £84 so far.

    Thanks Jet

    Did not know that.

Had a look and they are flying 30 March - 25 October, which is exactly the same as Easyjet's summer timetable which comes out every December.

I saw flights from Belfast on Tuesday, and from Nice on Tuesday for £10 each, which works out at £56 return. Saturday's are more expensive. Cheapest was £110 return. But in July a return flight Saturday - Saturday was £190, Tuesday - Tuesday £154. Some flights I looked at in June and July are already booked out.

Easyjet normally are cheaper than all of those prices. Will be interesting to see in December when they bring their prices out for those dates.

Also, if Aer Lingus will be flying next winter.

Ryanair are starting Dublin - Nice on 7 November.

At the moment return flights are 20 euros, including all taxes.

But each bag handed in is 12 euros.

Plus the £2 fee for checking in at the airport, which is the only way you can if you have baggage

    I didn't see that when I looked.

If you only have hand luggage you don't have to pay anything.

You can click to get the 6 euros check in taken off, like insurance.

Never flown with them before so not sure.
