Help with photo comps - editing etc

I've noticed a few comps lately where when a photo is required the entries have been modified - borders, captions added in print, emojis etc etc. I tried to win a holiday to Florida with Heart and we spent hours building a boat to look like an airboat ride but 99% of the entries that won had been edited (there were 20 holidays to give away).
So my question is - is there a website/app than you can use to upload your photo then edit/crop and add features (I'm thinking boxes/bubbles to insert a caption etc). I'm not great with technology but I'll certainly give it a go if it helps me win a comp!
Many thanks

There are loads of free apps and some better ones for about £5 to edit your photos. For my iPad / phone I have notepad+ and photo editor which are both excellent. These are so quick and easy to use. I haven't yet entered any photo comps but these apps would do the trick.:)0
