Chat to a Mortgage Advisor

I bank with Santander....
1. Are you able to have a casual meeting with one of their mortgage advisors?...
I just want to have a chat about my chances of getting a mortgage, but do not want a mortgage in principle or to apply yet....
My situation is a little more complicated in that I am Employed and Self Employed. It would be good to know what exactly they expect of me and get a general idea of how much I could borrow and and what kind of rates, based on me applying for a mortgage 3 months down the line.
2. My Self Employment is that I run an ebay business. I just wondered if lenders viewed certain businesses in a certain way depending on what they are. For example they may think an ebay business is unlikely to last, or the items I sell are just trend items. Or would it be wrong for them to judge a business that way? I suppose any job or business can fail at any time. I would assume they would more likely look at stability and that the business is consistently making good money. I will have 2 years accounts - hopefully that would be enough.
Thanks.

I think Santander would want 2 years self assessments, if increasing they would use an average of the 2 and add that to the employed income.
You could probably ask them over the phone without making an appointment, your just checking criteria and how to enter it on their calculator.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. A 'casual chat' with Santander (which I suspect they wont do) will tell you nothing you can rely on.
Use a broker is you want to accurately know where you stand.
They work on two years average figures (3 on H2B). They are lender that often make decisions based on wind direction so you need to be careful.I am a Mortgage Broker
