Debt List

Hello all, I am looking at applying for bankruptcy however I am unsure of all my creditors. I do have my credit report but am aware I do have debts that are not on my file. I know some companies report to one credit agencies and vice versa so I am not sure how I can find all my creditors to send to the AIB

    Hi,

Have you checked your file on all 3 CRA's ?

Assuming you have no paperwork on any past debts, there's not much more you can do really, any accounts over 6 years old, that have not been paid in that timeframe, would be statute barred, but still should be included ideally.

If no one is writing to you, and you can't remember who the creditor is/was, then your stuck really !!

    Hi there,

You should check all 3 credit files to start with, but that will only detail debts over the last 6 years (as Sourcrates mentioned). Not all debts are recorded on your credit file either (things like council tax, parking tickets, benefit overpayments etc.) would not be on your credit file at all.

You could also check www.trustonline.org.uk for information about any court orders made in the last 6 years (but please be aware this site does charge a small fee for checking). Ideally you want to try and list everything on your bankruptcy application but if you miss something it shouldn't be too much of a problem. Any provable debt that accrued before the date of a bankruptcy should be written off anyway. So if you do go bankrupt then keep your bankruptcy number safe, just in case you need it in the future.

  • Thank you for your response, this is what i was worried about my bankruptcy was accepted but I hadent included all debts. So if I have missed a debt it should still be written off yes.
