UK Citizen paid in USD. Can I get a mortgage?

  • Firstly thanks for those who have commented.

Secondly, I am straight down the middle. I declare all my earnings and pay the tax that is due.

The only issue in regards to the above points is that my SA302 for 14/15 was of very low income (as I was part working / part travelling that year). I have been with my employer since November 2014 and have payslips from them.

My employers will also confirm that I am a full-time contracted employee.

I feel very frustrated that my income is as stable and legitimate as any UK based company employee, yet there are apparently issue with lending me money (potentially).

I have a very close relationship with the company directors. Would it be beneficial if they drew me up an employment contract in GBP and displayed my income on my payslips as GBP (that obviously corresponds to my actual income in GBP).

Is anyone able to recommend a independent mortgage specialist?

    Family perhaps?

You are not employed by a legal entity in the UK. The contract is unenforceable and therefore worthless. Nor would it have any value in HK.

Self employed is going to require a much longer period of stable income than a couple of months. Which proves absolutely nothing.

What's your role in the Company out of interest?
  • It's not a family business. I work for a financial company in foreign exchange (very stable medium size business with +15 employees).

I am not self-employed. I have one source of income.

I am a business development manager.

Does the employment contract make any difference if I was employed by an Australian based company registered in Australia?
