FTB - need advice

We are FTB with 60% deposit and have been looking for a 3 bedrooms house(300-380K) in SE about 3 months. We are hoping to pay off the mortgage in 10 years or less. Unfortunately, we have no luck to find our dream home.
I have been out of work for half year and my partner is self employed. In this situation, I was wondering if we still can get a mortgage based on his income with big deposit.
We need to get a financial adviser to discuss our mortgage. Are there any tools to help us to compare and find a right mortgage deal in the right broker/banks? There are too many choices and we don't know how to start or we just simply pick one by luck.
Any advice or helps are appreciated.

I believe the rule of thumb for self-employed is you need two years worth of accounts/tax returns to demonstrate you can achieve your declared level of income. Given the large deposit perhaps they'd be more lenient.
Best thing to do would be to find an independent mortgage broker and discuss options with them.0 -
Thanks for the quick response.
As there are so many independent mortgage brokers, where can I start or any recommended brokers?0 -
Best thing to do would be to get a recommendation from a friend or family.
Failing that take pot luck on the internet, avoiding the ones in the corporate Estate Agents.
Make sure their fees are clear from the start and acceptable to youI am a Mortgage Adviser
