And yet in my nearest store they refuse point blank to do it saying that they have been told by Head Office they are not allowed and that transactions are checked and they can de disciplined. Makes me wonder is it just me they don't like & won't help or everyone. Especially when other people on here say that SA help them get the best deals. In my store they go out of their way to make sure you miss out on freebies or 342 etc. Apart from one lady who I've heard helping people.0 -

I don't know why any SA would want anyone to miss out on a 3for2, it tells them at the till if something is on offer and It's good customer service for them to tell you. I've bought stuff at clearance prices before not knowing it's 3for2 and they've still told me.
I do agree in terms of vouchers though that it depends who you go to, you're not meant to use them with clearance lines but they still go through the till some SA's will put it through some won't.0 -
The message is never clear about using the £3 and the £5 vouchers together as it does say you can only use one voucher with each transaction but I argue that they are different vouchers and if you couldn't the till would let you like some some of the other vouchers. Try the self serve machines and see if that lets you if your store has them.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

I'm nearly 20 miles away from a store with self serve tills.
My interpretation of "one voucher per transaction" means that you can only use one £5 voucher per transaction. You cannot use 2 x £5 vouchers in the same transaction. Which is fine. My argument is that if I'm buying skincare and make up in the same transaction I should be able to use one of each vouchers. I know the till will let both vouchers go through in the same transaction as I saw a SA do it last week for someone - she didn't quibble at all, just did it straight away. The staff are just awkward in my store.0 -

Remember a while ago there was a free Garnier Micellar Water when you spent £5 on skincare? I did my transaction and spent about £8 on skincare. SA didn't bother to tell me. A few days later I was in again and heard the SA on the next till telling someone she was entitled to the free Micellar Water and to go and get one. Apparently it comes up on the till as a prompt so my SA the week before just chose to ignore it!!!! In a decent store (Superdrug) they keep supplies of free gifts beside the till so when prompted they have them to hand to give to people.
That's just my little rant for the day. I just like to help people, the other day there was a lady looking at travel minis in Superdrug. I mentioned that there were some of the same item across the road in Boots on the clearance shelf so she would get 3 for 86p instead of 3 for £3. My good deed for the day.0 -

Agree that's poor service, a training issue or newish staff member perhaps?0 -

Poor service - it was a member of staff that has been there at least 3 years that I know of and doesn't like me getting "bargains" from the clearance counter. She once had a trolley full of shampoo & conditioner with clearance stickers on that were waiting to be put on the shelf. She was trying to do it in between serving customers. When I asked if I could take them out of the trolley she said no I couldn't, they weren't for sale yet. Eh??????
The problem with the staff is that they know I buy as much clearance stuff as I can get my hands on and then pass it on to friends and relatives who can't get to the shops. I often give stuff to a local cat rescue shelter when they have raffles & tombolas to raise funds. If ever there is a glitch mentioned on here and I try and take advantage of it they take things off me and won't sell it because in their words "she knows all the scams going". I heard a SA say that to a manager when they opened up my online order and refused to let me have it because they said I hadn't spent enough to qualify for a free gift (Sanctuary stuff). Not my fault that there is an online glitch but they started opening up all my online orders to check what I was buying. I am definitely victimised.0 -

With that kind of service I'd put in a complaint to head office!
If glitches go through online and are despatched its a genuine sale as far as I'm concerned until they fix the glitch not much they can do and no right to open parcels despatched to store!
I can understand them being a bit funny about glitches in store though if it we're to leave them short of stock for promotions etc perhaps.
As for clearance lines, at the end of the day it's on a clearance price as they want to clear it quickly so don't see what their problem is with that. Look how people carry on with the 70% sale, they just want to get shut of it, it's only this year when they supposedly put a limit of 6 on it - though I didn't see much evidence of that myself.0 -

I totally agree with your interpretation, unfortunately those high up in No7 have interpreted it differently and then fed that down to their staff who have shared that interpretation with their colleagues in stores.
As for the free gift, water, in store the till says it is a Linked sale but doesn't say what it is.
If they opened my parcels I would be putting a complaint in to their head office every time it happened, or send an email to the boss at Boots in London. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550
