NHS Vs. Private Crown
Comments

Every time you take a drill to a tooth you take away a bit more tooth with the danger you will damage the tooth or nerve.
a metal free crown on a back tooth will normally also mean you need to take away a bit more tooth, particularly down by the gum line.
Both types of crown are just as easy to clean.
An all ceramic crown may also not be suitable on a back tooth if you have a heavy bite.0 -

I don't agree with that. They combine to form a single hermetic seal ideally. There are actually studies that show the quality of the coronal seal is more important than the obturation of the canals.0 -
How on earth can a root filling completely fill up the typical shape of say a molar tooth? http://synapse.koreamed.org/ArticleImage/2185RDE/rde-38-2-g006-l.jpg
It doesn't and the coronal seal is an integral part of the fillings.0 -

They fill the canals and seal them. Once again misunderstanding everything.0 -
No they don't. The anatomy of a root canal is so complex you cannot possibly seal it all. Look at the pictures.0

I'm starting to think you are Barry cockroft or evlynne gilvarry!0 -
As dentists you have to be open minded that everything you was taught at medical isn't true and that everything your practice in dentistry isn't always in the best interests of the patients but in the best interests of business.
In 2003 the WHO was about to release a statement saying nobody should consume more than 10% of their calories as sugar. The sugar companies put pressure on the US Government who intervened, WHO changed their recommendations to no more than 25%.
Dentistry, doctors, pharmaceutical and more all depend on sugar.
No sugar would mean no tooth decay but also no type 2 diabetes, no obesity, no heart disease, no high blood pressure and all other western diseases and no requirement for the drugs that treat them that cost 10's of billions per year.
The economy depends on sugar.0 -
I don't think any of us would argue with you about the evils of sugar. or the power of the food industry.
But it doesn't change the fact that your posts about dental matters are complete tosh! How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
I disagree, advising someone to get a crown because they have a small portion of a front tooth missing is stupid. Teeth here are generally under very little force and composite build preserves more of the natural tooth. Having a small crown on the end of an incisor tooth won't make it stronger.0
