NRAM refusing to extend negative equity mortgage term please help

My view of NRAM was admittedly tainted by the way that they spoke to my Mum and them being, on the whole, generally evasive and unhelpful. I'm sure you'll all appreciate that it's a pretty horrible time for the family right now and if they had explained things a bit better and more sensitively it might have been easier to understand.
A total lottery as to who you will speak to on the other end of the phone. Unfortunately the NRAM operative has to follow the prescribed script. Nothing personal just business. Some will have life experience to call on as well when dealing with incoming callers. Which makes it easier to express empathy. Not easy either for them dealing with people all day who are potentially going to lose their homes.
As has already been suggested sit down with your Mum at the appropriate time and make a plan. A lender will be far more receptive to a constructive proposal. That's realistic for the borrower to attain.
Even making capital payments of some kind now to reduce the mortgage balance. Is a way of showing goodwill and intent.0 -
