Dishwasher with 1 hour cycle

I am looking to change my dishwasher and would really like to replace it with another Bosch. However, I really want one that has a 1 hour wash program. I can't stand it running for 2-3 hours, drives me mad:mad:

Please, does anyone know if Bosch make a dishwasher with a 1 hour cycle.

(At work we have a Hoover dishwasher and this definitely has a 1 hour program)

Many thanks.

I think you'd be hard pushed to buy a dishwasher these days that doesn't have a cycle of around 30 mins.

My current dishwasher has the 30 min cycle, I think they all have that now.l

I would just like to have one with a one hour cycle to make things cleaner, but not be running for 2-3 hours.

My Bosch dishwasher has a Variospeed button which can reduce the running time by up to half, which in my machine is from 142 mins to 74 mins, this does however use more electricity and water. It also does a half hour wash, but I don't find this particularly effective as my machine only goes on every other day.

For what reason do you want it to run faster? Perceived cost savings? Noise saving? Access to clean dishes sooner? More washing capacity?

Newer dishwashers (and washing machines) stretch out the time in order to wash better with a smaller amount of water. Being less water, they have less to heat, so use less electricity. The pumps are highly efficient, so the costs are reduced. Speeding up the wash time results in increased costs and reduced performance/effectiveness.

I agree with the OP. This emphasis on using a teacupful of water and washing cycles of 3 hours is also the norm with modern washing machines and it irritates me as well.

The problem is the 'efficiency' rating criteria - to get an 'A' rating a machine has to be nobbled so that it only heats up a tiny amount of water. The fact that the machine is then running for three times as long in order to attempt to achieve a clean end result is utterly ignored in the ratings.

It particularly irritates me because a machine may have an A+++++ rating, but will not actually clean your dishes (or your clothes). Many modern machines now completely fail to do what their primary purpose is - to clean. So yes, you will save electricity, but you will have inferior results. Take a look at the Which ratings for the long list of machines that spectacularly fail to clean dishes or clothes.

If you speak to someone knowledgeable in say, John Lewis, or even a white goods service engineer they will tell you exactly the same as I am saying. Efficiency ratings are now used as a major selling point, but most items will have an override - such as the Bosch Variospeed which halves the time of any of the cycles, or a reduced-time wash button - that are used in preference by most customers, because the result is just as good or better than the full-length cycle. This is not the same at all as the 30 minute wash which will only work on items that are not very dirty.

I just can't stand it running for 2-3 hours and I still perceive it as completely wasteful, simply can't help it.

At the moment I only ever use the quick 30 minute cycle, but would really something a bit longer like 60 minutes.

    Anyway, thanks for your replies.

You could run the 30 minute cycle twice! :rotfl:

Our current Bosch, purchased a year ago, has a Speed Perfect cycle which takes about 1hr 15 on ECO setting. No problem using this all the time. Quick wash is 30 minutes.
