Loan paid into my acount Which I didn't apply for!
Hi,
this may be a strange one. Today I noticed on my statement I had a credit for £64.28 under the title 'INSTANT CASH LOANS' and the payment type was 'Bank Gyro Credit'. I do not have any outstanding loans at all and I definitely did not apply for this. I was actually out with friends when the payment appeared on Thursday.
I phoned my bank(Halifax) to ask where it came from and if they could give me a contact number but even they didn't know who sent it. The gentleman did state it was a very funny amount and commented on how I did not need it.
I then proceeded to get a credit report from Noodle which shows I have no outstanding loans or credit checks in the past year.
Has anyone seen something like this before? I live alone and literally no one would know my banks sort code and account number.
Also before anyone asks I have used payday loans in the past but not in 2 years. I have also went through the only 2 accounts (wonga and quickquid) I had and none of them show any loans taken out.
Any help or similar stories is greatly appreciated

Keep an eye in Noodle over the next few months as sometimes it can several months for a creditor to report to a credit reference agency.
Strange indeed.:footie:Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Contact the lender and mention it's been paid to your account and would they like it back.
I'd be worried how my account details were used.
Someone else will have to confirm this but don't day lenders check the name given by the customer on the application matches the name given on the application.0 -
Sounds like someone has given the wrong bank account number and the payment has come to you by mistake? Can you not ask the bank to just send it back to where it came from? (that might not be possible

Thanks for the answers guys. Unfortunately the bank couldn't tell me even where it came from. The gentleman on the phone said he literally can't do anything unless it is unauthorized money going out. He suggested I get the credit report and see but my report has nothing outstanding.
@HappyMJ thank you I will!
@DCF79 literally no one knows who the lender is, not even Halifax! :rotfl:
@sweetpeas I actually thought this as well that it could be a simple admin error where someone has applied for a loan and got something wrong OR someone at the bank or the lender themselves. I asked if it could be reversed and it can't
In the past whenever I have had a loan it always said the company it came from but this is literally: 'INSTANT CASH LOANS' which if you Google comes up almost every lender around. I may have to pop into the bank and get some answers if possible. I just hope this isn't some scam0 -

Strange title as well really, best to follow what ever the bank suggest you do. Could you be confused over the lender names and received compo was the first thought, I used to get Eurocashnet and Payday Express mixed up early days. Badly0 -

Looks like The Money Shop - have you had any prior business with them? As someone else said, could be refunded interest or something similar0 -
Not them I'm aware of. When I used these companies in the past, it was always for really small amounts so I don't even know if i'd be due compensation.Deleted%20User wrote: »Strange title as well really, best to follow what ever the bank suggest you do. I only ever used Wonga and quickquid. I logged into both accounts and none have outstanding loans. Also previously on my bank statements they actually had the lender name so it's not them. If it is compensation I have never been told so I will be in the dark either way.0 -

Never used ever. 1st time I've ever been on that site and never been in the shop. As others have said it could maybe just be compensation, I just don't know why lol0
