Has anyone seen something like this before? I live alone and literally no one would know my banks sort code and account number.

Anyone you have ever written a cheque to will know your bank account number and sort code.

Anyone you have ever sent a standing order or direct debit to will have your account number and sort code.

Anyone you have ever made an online payment to will probably have your account number and sort code.

Anyone who has made a payment to you will have your account number and sort code.

Still think nobody has your account number and sort code?

Literally check all 3 of your credit files, not just Noddle. You can get your Equifax one free from Clearscore and your statutory report for literally £2 from Experian.

It could just literally have been paid to you in error so I don't go spending it just yet.

There is one person I do business with that has my sort code and account number. He lives in London and always sends me a gift at Christmas. I live in Scotland but he does not know any of my personal details, home address or home/mobile number etc.

The only other people are EE the mobile phone company and Wonga/Quickquid.

I will do this thank you. The best solution may be to wait and see what happens.

Looks like The Money Shop - have you had any prior business with them? As someone else said, could be refunded interest or something similar :)
Or Payday UK or Payday Express - same company t/a.

Your bank will know the sort code and account number it's been received from. Try and get those details from them as most loan companies have their bank details available publically for clients to make repayment to. So hopefully would come on a search engine search.

Never used ever. 1st time I've ever been on that site and never been in the shop. As others have said it could maybe just be compensation, I just don't know why lol

Very odd! I'm curious. I do hope you get to the bottom of it & it's simply a mistake rather than something untoward :)

The amount actually looks like how much a middleman charges you when you go online seeking a loan and give out your bank details for them to "find" you a loan.Perhaps its a refund from one of those to someone else which has ended up in your account?........
