Employment law through redundancy

Hi - was wondering if someone could help me out.

My work (national company) recently done a restructure and my team was moved to another part of the county and we were told that other jobs would be coming to our office.

The roles coming were not "matching roles" but during the collective consultation they were supposed to be x number of jobs in a certain new team.

Since then we have been told these roles may be incorporated into existing teams and we are being asked whether we want to apply or not without being given a job role/title or even working conditions. They want us to express our interest and go for interviews in two weeks!

Does our employer have an obligation in a period of redundancy to make sure they specify what roles are on offer and give a fair time to prepare for an interview?

It all just seems pretty rushed and chaotic?

What are my rights?

How long do you need to prepare for an interview?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
  • I've been there 3 years.

How can you apply for a job far less prepare for an interview when you don't know what the job is?

Can you say something along the lines of I would be provisionally interested in staying in one of these new roles assuming the working conditions are unchanged and subject to learning more details about the roles.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Many years ago I went for a job interview for a specific role. Passed the interview with flying colours, but was offered a job with a completely different specification.

Be carefull some companies get you to apply for jobs then make you take them and refuse redundancies even if you don't like the the job on offer(eg pays less)

If these jobs are suitable alternative they need to make that clear why they may be suitable alternative or you need to be clear that you are not applying for any role without first considering it as a potentialy suitable alternative but will go through the any process they want to evaluate them.
