Hi all
I am currently in the process of applying for a mortgage with Virgin. My car insurance is due on Friday and Im wondering can i shop around for quotes or would it be too risky?
Alternatively, if i phone my existing insurer to renegotiate a price, will this still leave a mark on my score?
the renewal price is very poor!
Thanks in advance

I stuck with a renewal mid mortgage app and its cost me more, but after posting on here a few people said car insurance wouldn't have made a difference to a mortgage app - I just didn't want to take the risk

Phoning your current provider and telling them to get real with the renewal price might be the best idea.
I cant see a Confused.com type credit search on your record derailing a mortgage application on it's own however.I am a Mortgage Broker
