Mortgage name removal

I apologise if this is the wrong thread for this question but I am completely lost and no idea where to turn or what to do.
In 2010 my marriage broke down and my now ex husband left, we spilt on good terms but things have since gone down hill. I was left paying a mortgage and a loan that was secured on the house as we weren't able to sell due to negative equity. We agreed at the time that I would pay the mortgage and we would split the loan payments but he then stopped paying his half and the loan company filed court proceedings, so I agreed to pay the loan fully and it stopped the reprocession.
I have kept the house but rented it out to cover the loan payments and I continued to pay the mortgage and everything is now up to date with no arrears.
The house is no longer in negative equity and I want to either sell the house or get the ex husband off the deeds so I can try to remortgage but I have no idea where my ex husband is. The last I heard was that he had left the uk and was living aboard and been for a number of years. We got divorced in 2013.
Is there anything I can do?
