Should I Bother To Pay Debt In This Scenario

  • On what basis though? Bankruptcy is (or at least should be) for people who have genuinely reached the end of the road and can't AFFORD to pay debt.

The OP could be in that position.
If my post doesn't appear to be serious, then it is not serious. So what? Kick back, relax enjoy life and have a little fun. Life is far far too short to be grumpy!!!!

A glance at his 4 other posts suggests that is not the case.

Yes - as does the overall tone of his post originating THIS thread. I'm afraid it's something that REALLY upsets me, seeing people treat bankruptcy as an easy way of getting away with getting something for nothing, when we see so many people on here who are genuinely and often through no fault of their own in a position where they have no choice, and are STILL absolutely horrified and appalled at having to take that step.

As you are living at home, I don't think your parents will be thrilled to find debt collectors or bailiffs on their doorstep.
  • Personally the only way to learn about avoiding debt in the future is to endure the pain of paying it off.
  • it might just be me but the op sounds depressed

Op, if you were a child of mine and the bailiffs turned up at my door, I'd take them to your room and let them take everything of value.

That would teach you a valuable lesson.
