    HI OllieBeak

I remember Lennons, behind the sefton and was once a Kwiksave! .....

With the funny 'conveyor thingy' that took shopping trolleys down to the lower floor - lol! I never came across any other supermarket with one of those :D. Before they opened THAT Lennons, it was where the Wishing Well Cafe is on the corner of College Street (round the back of what is now Wilkinsons).

Nice to find another St.Helenser on here :D. It's been many years since I left the town (1972).

Oh heck, I'm joining in. I had a 90s childhood though.

When my Uncle and Dad were building up the family business every saturday me, my older brother and sister would be let loose in the yard. Hours of fun in the sand pits and these yoghurts my mum would get us with little toys in the base.

Going to 'the dome' at doncaster every sunday because my brother and sister had skating lessons. Standing at the side with my Dad making jokes and drinking dr pepper.

Caravan holidays, nagging my mum to go to the arcades to play on the 2 penny machines. Dad giving me 20p and that managing to last me ages.

Going to see Anastasia when I was 6/7 and having nightmares because of Rasputin. *shudders*

Loving lamb chops play along (where kids come to play along, and fun things are all we ever doooooo!) and the pride when I got a lamb chops puppet. and loving hush puppy.

Watching are you afraid of the dark and actually being scared.

Sleep overs at my best friends house after school discos. Getting 20p mixes at the discos and sitting on the 'year 6' benches eating them.

Going to see spice girls, steps, hearsay and S club 7 when I was in primary school and thinking I was hella cool.

Telling people to 'take a chill pill' Ohhh the shame

I could go on, but i best stop!
  • Can anyone remember Kali (pronounced kaylie) lumps? They were pink or cream pillows, about 2" long - made of this stuff which fizzed when you sucked it. I LOVED them (probably why I've got so many fillings today!) - no-one I know can remember them. I also loved rainbow drops, Arrow bars, Anglo bubblies ("tangle round your heart if you swallow" them lol!), jubbleys, black jacks, fruit salads and shrimps. You can still get shrimps but they aren't the same as the ones we got as children. I was drfinitely a quantity not quality kid - could never see the sense of wasting a whole 5p on one bar of chocolate when you could get practically a bucket full of rubbish for the same amount! Oh yes - I also remember that we used to get pork chops with the kidney still attached - I LOVED them, but you never see them nowadays. We also used to have oxtail stew which was lovely, and stuffed lambs hearts - stuffed with sage and onion stuffing and cooked in lovely thick oniony gravy.

    strap-on roller skates
My nan's welsh cakes and apple crumbles
saying hello/good morning to strangers in the street
    really deep snow
    Cold metal windowframes
the Muppet Show on saturday night
    vegetables with mud on
my mum's flarey jeans and long hair.
my dad's long hair and denim jacket
seeing a queue halfway around Cardiff for cinema tickets to see E.T.
Dancing to Top of the Pops in the lounge. Hit me with your Rhythm Stick
Paper christmas decorations hanging from the ceiling

That must have been just about the only perk of being the eldest (as I was!) - nobody else got to wear the clothes before you did! At least nobody else in your family ;).
