Pre-1998 student loans on tax return - help!

Hi all

My calculation is coming out higher than what my accountant said it should be, and having spent most of today trying to figure this out, I think it might be related to my student loan - and I would appreciate some advice on whether I've inputted it correctly.

I have a pre-1998 'mortgage style' loan that I was still paying off in that tax year. I pay this through my own bank account - not through my wages.

I have ticked 'yes' to the question 'do you have notice from the Student Loans Company that repayment of an Income Contingent Student Loan began before 6 April 2015.'

HOWEVER, I now think this may not be the case for me as I made the loan repayments directly.

Does this mean my type of loan is NOT income-contingent and does not need to go on my return?

If I subtract the amount that the calculation now says is due in student loan repayments, I get a figure closer to what my accountant says I should be getting.

So should I be saying NO to this question?

MAny thanks!
