Tax and pay slip advice

Hi,

I would be very grateful if someone could perhaps offer me a little insight into my most recent pay slip.

I have been with my employer for two months. This month, the amount I have been paid is much higher than expected. It is also much higher than December's pay slip.

My current pay slip reads as below...

Total Payments: £330.46 (as expected)
Total Deductions: -£599.00
Tax paid to date: -£599.00
Taxable pay to date: £671.94

Net pay: £929.46

I have no idea why my Total Deductions and Tax Paid to date would be negative £599.00. Or why this amount has been added to my Net pat.

My tax code has also changed from my first (December) pay slip to this one, from 1060L to 1072L !!!.

Wondering if this could be related to a previous employer.

Any advice or insight would be very welcome.

Regards

Did you have a P45 from last job?
If so can you give full details tax code gross and tax figures (may be two sets)
If no P45 then details from last payslip in old job tax code/basis, week or month number, gross to date and tax paid to date,
  • Hi,

I didn't have a P45 from the last job. When I got my current job, I filled out a new starter form which I was told was for those who didn't have a P45. My previous job was just a stop gap between two jobs so I was not there for long, perhaps 8 weeks.

I have got the last payslip I received from my previous employer dated the 27/11/15 however.

It was a weekly payslip and the Tax code says: 0T/1. The Tax period reads 34/2016.

    I also see...

Year to date assessable pay £814.07.
    Tax paid £169.20.

Sorry if this information isn't very helpful. I'm completely lost within this field. Thanks again,

Since April 5 2015 have you had any other jobs or received any taxable benefits (eg jobseekers) if so what were the earnings and tax paid for these?
  • I was employed in Job 1 until September 30th of this year (3 years in the role in total). I was on £1200 approx per month.

Job 2 was temporary and was from mid October until mid December. This was paid weekly at around £220 a week (but varied due to over time).

Job 3 has been since mid December and is ongoing.

I haven't had any benefits at all.

As far as Im aware all tax was paid for Job 1.

Can you advise details of total pay and tax for job 1
  • Sorry, I can't unfortunately. We were never sent pay slips. I've got very little info on Job one apart from wage and time there.

Without these details or at least an estimate of them it is impossible to check your tax position. Are there any year to date figures on the last payslip you had? All I can suggest is that you ask your payroll dept to check that the figures they have added are correct and ask them for year to date figures if not on payslip.
