  • I don't think you are bragging at all. What area of the UK will you be buying in? I don't think the lenders will necessarily be tougher, a lot of it depends on affordability, mortgage term etc. Some lenders have different underwriting criteria for property values over half a million, particularly if high loan to value or outside the M25. Some lenders have special products available for high value mortgages (at least they did back in 2008 when I was a broker). The commutable distance to your place of work would also be a factor plus whatever expenses you regularly incur.

At present underwriters are going through bank statements with a fine tooth comb. I don't mean to make you anxious but I have contacts in the industry still and I've heard of lenders being concerned about people eating too many take aways and online gambling and they really do pay attention to how you spend your money. If you do anything like that it could help to be mindful about it so you can show a potential lender you are not spending irresponsibly, I know you earn a lot of money but I was once earning similar to you and my ex husband left me penniless most months! its so easily spent when you don't have to count every penny.

  • Okay, thank you - you are awesome:-)

So I guess 160K will not send the alarm bells ringing with them? We just don't want to apply with someone and get turned down.

It's all about affordability now a days. As long as your not blowing 60 k a year on Gambling or escorts, should be fine

Thanks that compliments made my day! I think you will be fine - it won't be straight forward but anything worth having isn't easy to get is it?

If I can help more I will, just ask.

Mortgage market has changed in the 7 years since you left these shores.

I assume that the UK operation is wholly dependent upon financial support from the parent company. Something may which concern an underwriter. Given that the UK operation has no track record at all.
