We've just bought a second hand camping loo / porta potti to use next summer.
I'm not keen on using the recommended chemicals to flush/clean it.
I'd like to use something home made.
I'm thinking maybe vinegar, tea tree oil, neat alcohol?
Any ideas anyone?

please dont- you can get fomaldehyde free fluids which are much better for the environment than the old ones. have you used one of these loos before and do you know how they work? please dont take my question as being rude but from your questions it seems like you haven't. any solvent like tea tree oil alcohol will damage the seals.. dont forget you need a volume of flluid to flush with, and then it sits in the bottom of the toilet breaking down the wee and poo/loo roll etc and stopping it smelling. dont forget to make sure you emptyt it in the right place.'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0
