in Cutting tax
I was out of work for 5 months and signed on the last 4 weeks for job seekers allowance. I started my new job and was paying emergency tax for the first 2 months(salary monthly pay).
Am I entitled to a emergency tax refund as I now have a tax code of 1066LM 1 but have had no tax rebate which I thought I would be entitled to or is it because I signed on so no tax refund. Any advice or answer would be welcomed, just want to know if I am entitled and have tried to ring HMRC but getting through is impossible.
Regards
Sunter.

phone HMRC tomorrow about 8am
you need a taxcode without the M1 at the end to get the tax back this tax year
did you give your new job your P450 -
Call HMRC at 7.45am and get put on a cumulative tax code (so remove the M1)0

Who did you send that to? A P46 isn't used anymore, it's been replaced with the starter checklist.0 -
Our HR department.0

the new starter checklist is the functional equivalent of the P46, and it would not surprise me in the least if one or two HR depts weren't still calling it a P46.
Our payroll bureau still does so ...
Did you ever get a P45 from the job centre? And if you did, did you pass the relevant section on to your HR dept, even though you were already on the payroll it should have helped them sort this out.Signature removed for peace of mind0
