Slim & Save Diet

Hi everyone,
I've been unhappy with my weight for years - but whatever I try, the weight just does not shift (unless it's upwards!). My next door neighbour has been on the Slim & Save diet and lost several stone in a few months, and is keeping it off by following the WeightWatchers plan.
Has anyone else tried this diet?

Right, honest answer alert.
These companies with meal replacement shakes etc do not work long term.
You need to implement a routine of healthy fresh food, exercise and above all self restraint and portion control.
IMO Weight Watchers is a slightly obscure weight loss programme, with very little emphasis on portions, more WHAT you eat. With potatoes etc being suitable food items.
Simply follow a healthy balanced diet
Breakfast : eggs or porridge
snack : small handful of nuts or dried fruit
lunch : salad, eggs, chicken, oily fish etc
dinner : protein of choice, quinoa, chick peas, cauliflower rice, sweet potatoes
Regular exercise and the weight will come off.
The reason you have not lose weight is you have either eaten too much or not exercised enough, it may sound harsh, but that is the truth, and no shake will rectify that long term0 -
Stop right there!
Correction, these diets do sometimes work for some people!
I have personally lost over 4 stone on a similar diet and maintained for over a year. Yes, I do need to lose more weight which I'm doing now. It depends on your motivation and dedication. Yes, they are very difficult, no doubt about it, but they do work! I have 2 meal replacements at breakfast and lunch and then a proper evening meal (low carb). I lose 3 pounds a week without any effort and I'm not hungry ever. It all depends on YOU!July Win: Nokia 58000 -
I will agree that you do need to increase your exercise levels. Even just walking everyday! credit Crunched is correct, you need to control your portions and move more. PS I like your meal plan, that's pretty much what I eat when trying to maintain without the exercise.July Win: Nokia 58000

I don't know a single person, having followed a meal replacement diet, that has maintained the weight loss long term. Almost all re-gained the weight plus more within 2-3 years.
Replacing meals with shakes etc does not teach a person how eat properly, either food types or portion control therefore find themselves reverting to old habits and food choices once they come off their particular "diet".0 -
Meal replacements (along with all other quick fix diets) work short term as you're drastically reducing your calories. But if you don't learn healthy choices and portion control, and return to the habits that caused the weight to go on once, it will go on again. That's been statistically proven for almost every diet plan out there.
I am currently going to Slimming World for the group support, but my most successful weight loss (maintained for a decade - and while I did gain some weight last year due to family tragedies, it was a fraction of what I lost) was by simply following a sensible plan similar to what Credit-Crunched listed. And that's actually still what I do within the SW guidelines - just because unlimited potatoes/rice/pasta is technically allowed doesn't mean that's what I choose to eat all day!0
