I am so distressed.
In the last 2 weeks I had three eye tests at different opticians and the prescription are all different.
I first went to Tesco and then used the prescription to have a pair of my glasses reglazed by an online company, the vision on the glasses when I received them did not seem correct so, I went to specsavers and had an eyetest of which showed different results! I then paid for an eye test with vision express and to my amazement the prescription was completely different from the other two!!!!!!!!!!!!
1) RIGHT Sphere +1.00. cyl balance. axis . Near +1.00. LEFT Sphere +1.50. cyl -0.50. axis 110. Near +1.00 LEFT INTER ADD +1.00 RIGHT INTER ADD +1.00
AIDED VA RIGHT 6/7.5- LEFT 6/5
Optician said on borders of distance so ok do not need distance.
2) RIGHT Sphere +0.75 cyl . axis Near +2.00. LEFT Sphere +1.50. cyl -0.50. axis 115. Near +2.00
Did not put any readings for inter and said I would have to write to the director of the company for a copy of the prescription.
Optician said I need distance and would be illegal to drive without them.
3)RIGHT Sphere +1.00 cyl -0.25. axis 130.0. Near +2.00. LEFT Sphere +1.00. cyl -0.50. axis 105. Near +2.00
Optician said on borders of distance so ok do not need distance.
Are these three different prescription similar? Or are they completely different?
Which one shall I go for (for glasses?) Please help- so distressed!

Firstly, there isn't a huge difference between the prescriptions - it's not unusual for 3 different opticians and sets of equipment to produce 3 slightly different results.
Secondly, the 2nd Opticians are legally obliged to give you a copy of your prescription without you having to ask for it &
Thirdly, how do you know the specs were precisely made to the original prescription?Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.

I tried an online opticians, sent my most recent prescription off and the left eye came back so out of focus Im scared of the online brigade. I l just buy the cheaper frames and get them filled up locally thanks. They re trying to do everything possible now by mail order ( online if you like ) but some things need the personal touch.
I must admit that maybe I could have two or three different eye tests and I bet they re not all the same. All the " is this setting better or is this " is all a bit hit or miss with me. So any small variations its my fault for not being consistant0 -
firstly, why are you going around every having eye tests? what was the issue with the first one?
did you check the reglaze on the 1st prescription was even correct?0 -
As Ned says, its not that unusual for different optoms to give marginally different results. There are so many variables,,,some equipment and measurement based, some human factors. If the interaction between optom and patient runs well,he/she gets good feedback and can be confident of what he/she is measuring.Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0
