IHT repayments

I have been waiting several weeks for repayment from HMRC of overpaid inheritance tax and am unable to get an estimated repayment date. Can anyone tell me of similar problem and what I can do about it? And do HMRC have a target date for such a repayment, due in my case to over-optimistic valuations of house and property prior to getting probate.

That said, it can take several weeks for a refund of tax of any kind to be made.

yes its in progress, form received..& acknowleged. . However what concerns me is total lack of urgency and failure by HMRC to stick by their own code of practice ! We are talking now about 18 weeks from receipt of form and 12 weeks from acknowledgment. To whom do I moan?

I can assure you that telephone calls have been made and this has had no result, other than blaming work overload and movement of files from one office to another. As the definition of undue delay seems to be pretty woolly it would be interesting to hear what experience other readers of this may have had,,,,,,
