Car finance agreement discrepancy
Hi guys,
I'll try and keep this short and to the point!
I bought a car from a reputable car dealership in Belfast in November 2014. Having had a poor credit rating for a while, I was delighted to be offered finance with Renault Finance to purchase the vehicle.
The vehicle price was very attractive and as such, I signed what I had to sign and drove away thinking I'd got a great deal.
I've since signed up to the Renault Finance online facility and after numerous emails and phone calls, it turns out I can't view my agreement or statements online (long story) but subsequently, my finance agreement and statements to date were emailed to me today.
What immediately struck me was a £738 difference between the price the car was advertised at, and the sale price on the finance agreement ... a sale price £738 more expensive that is. Interest has been calculated on the sale price.
I have a screen shot of the web page from when I purchased the vehicle, stating the price the vehicle was for sale at.
I've only just discovered this discrepancy today and haven't contacted neither the dealership or the finance company as yet. I thought I would come on here for some advice first.
So folks, have I a leg to stand on here?!
Thanks for looking :-)

Did you pay any deposit was there a part exchange? Did you add any extras? Are your monthly payments the ones you agreed to?0
-
its irrelevant what the website said, its what you signed that matters, what does your copy of the paperwork say?0

No deposit was paid, except a holding deposit of £100 so I could view and test drive the car at the weekend. This was promptly returned. No extras were added. The monthly payments were agreed on what I thought was the advertised sale price. Sounds like I've learned a very harsh lesson here :-(0 -

My copy of the paperwork, which I've only been presented with today, states a higher sale price with interest calculated on that price and a monthly payment over X amount of months0 -

Please clarify- are the monthly payments you are paying the same or higher than the monthly payments originally agreed on what you thought was the advertised sale price.0 -

The monthly payments I'm paying are the same as what was agreed on in what I thought was the advertised sale price. Hope I've answered what you asked!0 -
So the payments are the same as you agreed, just wondered does the Finance Agreement show any deposit being paid (even though you didn't pay one)? Its not unknown for dealers to play about with figures where customers have no deposit to make the finance proposal more likely to be accepted. The monthly payments I'm paying are the same as what was agreed on in what I thought was the advertised sale price. so over a year later you only are getting the paperwork? what did you sign on the day and where is your copy?0 -
You say you're looking for advice.
Advice on what, exactly? A leg to stand on for what?
You haven't actually explained what you're looking for out of this situation."Facism arrives as your friend. It will restore your honour, make you feel proud, protect your house, give you a job, clean up the neighbourhood, remind you of how great you once were, clear out the venal and the corrupt, remove anything you feel is unlike you... [it] doesn't walk in saying, "our programme means militias, mass imprisonments, transportations, war and persecution."0 -
