laptop batteries

My laptop loses charge very rapidly - like in 5 minutes from 100% charged to zero. I presume it's the battery not holding charge. Is this the right diagnosis? What's the solution? Buy a new battery? Where? Don't want to get ripped off for a lot of money.

I have the same problem, i think it's because i use the power lead connected all the time (now i know not to do that again!) The battery drains about 10 mins after boot up.
They are right expensive to replace, so i just continue to use the powerlead, no other option really.
I think there is a test u can do to test the cells in the batteyr, but im not completly sure.
Maybe someone will enlighten us?
