First year report

Hi
Its been exactly one year since my solar PV system was installed and I am posting the stats.

Location Rochdale
3kw ESE(20 degrees south from east) pitch 35 degrees
1kw SES(20 degrees west of south) pitch 55 degrees
Total Kwh 2939
PVGIS estimate 2952
highest output in day. 24.2kwh
lowest output in day. 0
Best month June approx 405kwh
worst month December 39kwh.
Reduction in electricity bill??? Dont know but I estimate approx £80 per year as I am a low usage consumer

Im slightly dissapointed I didnt break the 3000kwh mark but cannot complain too much, it is working as expected ,maybe next year I might break the 3k mark with better weather!

Anyone is welcome to post their stats if they wish!
I would like to ask anyone who have had their solar PV system for more then 1 year wether their annual generation actually improves in some years and by how much?

Whilst there will be variations from year to year, the output of the panels reduces very slightly year on year, so the trend is likely to be a gradual decrease.

It depends on the wether, i.e. the second year could be a lot sunnier, or maybe you'll have snow covering your panels from late February until the end of March this year but virtually no snow next year.

    No such compass point!
  • Yes generation varies quite a lot from year to year with the biggest difference being £302, old FIT rate. Cheers

Hiya. My figures for 5 years are:

2011 97% (ESE only, and only for 4 full months)
2012 99% (WNW only for 5 full months)
    2013 104%
    2014 108%
    2015 106%

But, some disclaimers. My targets are based on 2011 and 2012 PVGIS figures, which have now been increased, by about 3-5%, so perhaps I should deduct a few percent from each year to compare performance against newer systems/PVGIS estimates.

My estimates are gross, based on no shading potential, but I have shading, so only expected to achieve ~90%, so very pleased.

Panel degradation over 20 years will hopefully be about 8% (0.4%pa) so impossible at the moment to differentiate against far larger weather fluctuations.

My first two years are a bit messy, but I'd guess that a 5% to 10% range between good and bad years is possible. But most years will contain a mix of good and bad months, leveling things a bit.

    Mart.
Mart. Cardiff. 8.72 kWp PV systems (2.12 SSW 4.6 ESE & 2.0 WNW). 28kWh battery storage. Two A2A units for cleaner heating. Two BEV's for cleaner driving.

  • Sorry, should be SWS
Mickyduck, nice figures there. I wish my house was further south !
