This always annoys the heck out of me on "can't pay we'll take it away". The car & every bit of furniture in my house is 2nd hand, no proof of ownership for anything so bailiffs say they could just take it all

Well I did go to citizens advice to try and get help after stepchange and I thought it was under control until recently. I do have a LTD company and I am a company director. Work equipment isn't at home so that isn't really a problem. Stepchange etc. Said they couldn't help because of the type of debt, they could help with credit card and similar but not the fine, council tax etc. Hence the CAB.

Maybe try the business debt helpline.... they deal with business debts, but can ALSO help people who are self employed with personal debts that are nothing to do with the business.
They are definitely worth a call.
