Referral links

I just received an email from MSE regarding them removing a link as it was a referral link. I don't know how I am doing these referral links. All I do is copy and paste from the FB app :s

some comps do "share to get more chances to win" or "earn more entries" , they are bespoke links to your and hence a referral

With some of the Facebook app comps, if you copy the link after you've entered it'll be your referral link so best to post the comp before you enter it. :)

Some referral links are more difficult to spot than others, but usually one of the more experienced users will post a "clean link" without the referral bit under your original. If you get into the habit of checking your recent posts you will see if somebody has done this and you can edit your original post and there will be no need for it to be reported to MSE who invariably, delete the whole thread.

I think the one that caught you out was one of the more difficult ones to spot - a woobox one for the Etixx bike:

With a woobox link the first group after the "woobox.com" refers to the comp and the second group is the referral bit relating just to you. You can delete this referral group and the link will still work eg.

With woobox there should always be a page that leads to it and if that is posted there should be no issue with referral links - the originating page will also almost always have far more info on the comp than just the woobox entry form.
