I've been getting these calls but haven't answered and glad I didn't as when I googled number it's says that you have won £250 (or similar) and apparently it will cost you £26 for answering call! Make sure you block number!

I just answered this, !!!!!!, for real you get charged? it said congratulation something i cut the call.

It looks like they try to get you to press a key to continue (with various ruses - won something, claim something, take survey etc.), and that's when you get charged.

My phone provider, EE, said unless i clicked on the options you don't get charged for just picking up the call at all in the UK unless you have accepted a reverse charge call.

They said it's an urban myth, though clicking on the options could have a charge associated. I've realised on my iphone if i click the info circle next to the number you have an option to block immediatley.

I just answered and got the same message, although it was a different number. I just hung up. They can only charge to a certain point if its true because I have Pay as You Go and there's not even that much in the phone
