I'm gonna do this, even if it kills me...

Just wanted to say, that thanks to all of you that post on this site, you've given me the push I needed to sort my life out.

I've managed to work out (for once in my life) exactly how much I spend each month, and do something drastic about how much I earn.

I found it easier to write down everything I spend each day (spreadsheet) and categorise it into areas of spend, i.e. food for home, lunches, entertainment etc, and it's amazing how much I am watching what I spend!! This gives me an easy way of tracking my daily spend and as long as I stick within a specific amount each month, I know I won't go overdrawn!! Fantastic! :j

The other thing I've done is to get a second job. I should know tomorrow if I've got an evening job at Sainsburys (fingers crossed) which will supplement my income hugely and mean I can pay off my debts 2 years sooner than originally planned!! (see signature) Ideal!! :T

Just felt I needed to say thanks to everyone that posts. It's really comforting to know I'm not the only one that's managed to get into debt.

I can't wait to be debt free. I've always had loans and overdrafts since leaving college nearly 12 years ago!

    OK, here goes...

    Monthly Income:

    Salary job 1 £1865.75
    Salary job 2 £357.50

    Total Income £2223.25

    Monthly Outgoings:

    Mortgage/Rent £760
    Council Tax £90
    Electric £30
    Water Rates £10
    Contents Insurance £9.90
    TV Licence £11.61
    Sky £26
    Phone (hm) £10
    Phone (mb) £30
    Food £145
    Gym £16
    Car Insurance £28
    Petrol £75
Misc £150 (includes birthday gifts, eating out, cinema etc)

    Total £1391.51

Please note, these numbers are AFTER I sat down and revised my spending!! Beforehand it seemed I just spent more on food, petrol, eating out etc. However I have managed to reduce my contents insurance by £10, and reduced my visits to the gym to save a bit.

I hope I've thought of everything.
